Since 2009 Island Offshore has had an internal campaign running called Island’s Contribution. It all started as a competition for all employees to come up with good ideas to save fuel, but it has developed into an environmental campaign with emission to air as its main focus.
Small changes of habits give a huge contribution in saving fuel for our contractors, as well as saving the environment due to reduced hours of engine operation. This pleases our contracting companies and makes Island Offshore an attractive supplier of offshore services.
Some things require a simultaneous act from many to be of any significance. It is all about using the brain while using muscles. As an example by reducing the use of DP (Dynamic Positioning) the fuel savings are substantial with 8-10 tons a day a vessel. By reducing the speed in transit with 10% we obtain a saving of more than one million litre a year in our fleet.
