The CSOV vessel Island Diligence just completed an impressive winter campaign with busy days on Vattenfall’s Kriegers Flak windfarm in the Baltic Sea, supporting Global Offshore’s cable installation works at the 72-turbine site. Operations were ongoing day and night, involving gangway operations and crane work around the clock.

Since the contract commenced in August 2020, we have had 8822 crossings on the Uptime-gangway and 1800 connections to the windmill TP.

“We are very pleased with the vessel’s performance considering the challenging operation with 24/7 lifting and gangway activity through nearly six months of operation. Furthermore, managing the COVID-19 risk and ensuring adherence to mitigating measures with a multi-team POB of 100 is particularly impressive. We are thankful to our crew for the performance, and to our client Global Offshore for the opportunity to service this project. We look forward to exploring more opportunities in the w2w market,” says Managing Director of Island Offshore Management AS, Tommy Walaunet.

Island Diligence has supported the cable laying phase of the project, also accompanied recently by the sister vessel Island Crown, which joined the project at the beginning of the year as a support vessel for Global Offshore and sister company, CWind’s termination and testing work. Island Crown has become quite an experienced vessel in the walk-to-work industry with a total of over 7,600 landings and about 50,000 personnel transfers since delivery in 2013. Island Diligence has, despite seasonal lay-ups in the past couple of years, carried out 3800 landings since the delivery of the vessel in 2018, with over 17,200 personnel crossings.

“We are pleased to be able to rely on suppliers such as Island Offshore Management AS to ensure the smooth and continued operations at a range of offshore wind farms across the globe. For our 72 inter-array cables installation project at Kriegers Flak Offshore Wind Farm, we utilised a number of vessel types from a range of suppliers, including the W2W vessels from Island Offshore, and thus, it was vital that each vessel provider was reliable, adaptable and dependable,” explains Mike Daniel, Managing Director, Global Offshore.
