Island Offshore (IO) is proud to announce that the progress of the Ormen Lange excavation project is progressing way faster and more efficient than predicted, breaking all previously records for this type of excavations. IO and AGR have been working hard together onshore and offshore to achieve these results. IO also took part in the last excavation campaign but then by use of the MOU Island Frontier in 2004.
"I would like to congratulate you all on a job well done so far.
The last days we have seen how effective the excavation assembly onboard the Island Valiant is for seabed preparation in extreme terrain.
When I got up this morning I was informed that the largest location in the base scope of more than 600m3 was completed during the night. This was done in an average of 105m/3 pr hour!!!
We have also completed two locations with very hard clay using the side cannons on the clay cutter. Both completed to spec using less time than expected.
I am extremely pleased, not only with the good progress of the work, but also with the very professional way all personnel onboard is doing their job. My feeling is that we are all working as one team onboard to accomplish a safe and accurate job. I am very happy to be onboard this excellent vessel and to closely work with all personnel onboard.
Due to the good progress in the operation so far, we have issued some additional scope of work that we can do after we have completed the 9 locations in the base scope. The amount of the additional scope to be performed will be decided based on the further progress.
I hope you can pass on my regards to all personnel involved in the operations.
Thanks for the very good effort so far - Keep up the good work."
